Objective

This project was part of the first three year action plan of the CDSWG, it was designed to identify current uses of assessment tools and processes in career development practice, some of the benefits of existing tools, identify gaps that will help improve the effectiveness of those tools, and potentiallly identify areas where new work in the area of assessments is required.

A contract was awarded to Life Strategies Inc. to complete a systematic review of the current use of assessment tools and processes in career development and create a report outlining the current use in Canada.  Gaps, potential areas for improvement and target audience needs not met in addition to perspectives on how the tools and processes assist a career practitioner in assisting their clients was also explored.  The work was conducted between January 2009 to March 2009.

The work completed through this project will assist the FLMM CDSWG to identify how career development services can support the labour market participation of adults who are: unemployed, under-represented and/or under-employed.
